At the Olympic Training Center they have 163 on campus dorms for athletes to live in.
The Olympic Training Center is on a 155 acer piece of land near Otay Lakes. At the
Olympic Training Center that have over 20 sports.
The things that I am looking forward to is the opportunity to work with some very talented
Athletic Trainers and learn a lot more about Athletic Training .
The thing that I am nervous about is doing something wrong.
The thing that I hope to gain from the experience is simple ways to support an injury a sprained
fingerer etc.

First Day at my Internship
My first day at my internship at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista went very smooth and
I had a lot of fun. I enjoy my mentor very much because he is funny and tells jokes. The first
assignment I had to do was file papers due to the athletes sport they play. I learned that in a single
week you can end up seeing 250 different athletes. Thats crazy because there only 163 on campus
dorms. Today I noticed how many plastic bags, plastic wrap, ice, cups, and tape they used and its a
lot. At first it was like really you need more plastic bags for ice, I just put 100 plastic bags on the cooler 30 minutes ago.
Overall I think I think I will enjoy my internship at the Olympic Training Center very much.

Who Else can I Learn From?
I think I will learn from Chris Garcia and Reiko Takahashi and they are Athletic Trainers at the Olympic
Training Center in Chula Vista. I think i will learn from them a lot because they use a lot of different types
of equipment. Besides using equipment they have a lot of different types of tapping methods. And many
different ways to treat an injury.

What My Internship Looks Like?
My internship at the Olympic Training Center looks exactly like you think a training center looks like. As
soon an you wank in you see 5 training tables against a 4 foot wall. To the left of the training tables you
see the desk where you have the trainers make the appointments. On the other side of the 4 foot wall and
the training tables is were you would find the cabinets with all of the pre-wrap and the athletic tape along
with everything from bandades to heat packs to plastic bags. In the back left corner of the room there is
the hot and cold plunge and the ice machines. On top of the ice machines you will find plastic bags and
saran wrap.
I work Monday and Friday 8-4 and Tuesday Wednesday and Friday 8-3.

Internship Project
At my internship at the Olympic training Center. The project that im working on is just to spectate my mentor
and his employees and see how they treat injuries, and how to prevent the same injury from occurring in
the future. I am excited about learning how to treat small injuries like sprained ankles to the more serious
injuries like broken bones. The thing that I an nervous about would have to be not doing a good enough job.
I think that my work could help the Olympic Training Center in a big way because it would make the other
athletic trainers have not as much to do when it comes to the simple but important things like getting an ice bag
or taping an ankle or making appointments.

My First Week
My first week at the Olympic Training Center was pretty awesome. I learned a lot more that i thought I would.
The thing i was surprised me was how down to Earth and how nice each and every athlete are to everybody.
I accomplished many things such as learning how to log in injuries and how to make appointments for athletes.
The funniest moment was my first day I was at the Olympic Training Center because as i was taking my I.D
picture my menor photo bombed me. There havent been and awkward moments yet.

Compare and Contrast
My week at the Olympic Training Center compares to a normal school week because i eat lunch at the same
time as at High Tech High noon. And I always have Rugby the same days Tuesday-Thursday and I dont have to
skip and practice. The ways my day is different is I work from 8-3 and school is from 8:15-3:15, and I dont have
to worry about homework. I think my internship has shown me that I do Want to become an Athletic Trainer in the
future.

2 Questions
1) My work is meaningful to my workplace because it allows the trainers focus on injured athletes while Im working
on other tasks that the trainers would work on.
2) At first I had to chose a few simple injuries and I had to look them up on the computer and then research how to
treat them . At the end of my project I have learned the difference between a a AC Separation and a Dislocated
shoulder. And how to make sure the injury does not happen over and over again. And how to give the injury support
so you can still train.

3 Questions
1) My work has showed me that Athletic Training is an actual profession that i would like to have when I am an adult.
2) My view has changed because my internship showed me that there are many different fields in the Athletic Training
profession, from Medical Director to Physical Therapist.
3) At first I had a lot of questions but as the month went on everything I did became easier and I didn't have to ask many
questions.

Mentor Photo & Paragraph
This is my awesome mentor Richard Quincy. He has been to 4 Olympic Games.
He is the head Medical Director at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista.
The things that I really appreciate is Quincy will go out of his way just to help you
because he knows you need it. He also allowed me to go to Olympic practices
such as Rugby 7s and BMX. I cant see me working at any other internship with
out any other mentor. Thanks Quincy for the wonderful opportunity.
